There's nothing I appreciate more than the dedication my primary caregivers had to my upbringing as an imaginative, curious, compassionate human, especially during my most formative years. Knowing countless other children are denied this essential love and have no one devoted to their healthy development is my primary reason for choosing to have a vasectomy so the possibility of raising biological offspring will never even be on my radar. An artistic insurgency will require the prioritization of public over blood-familial contributions to the welfare and social adjustment of citizens. It's essential to divert the time and resources educated people typically pour into getting a few of their own kids through the education system alive and able to function in the world, into transforming education system into what should be the norm at home. The domestic life of most students should not be able to compete with the opportunities, and supportive, inspiring environment provided in art classes. One of our tasks is to replace the nuclear family with a network of intentional communities, and one way to forge these communities is by identifying students with dissatisfying home lives, fostering their disenchantment with familiar kinship structures, and offering direct support in the form of meals, housing, and meaningful jobs. Find and replace. Rinse and repeat. The logistics of this need to be fleshed out, but the time and money saved by not having children should help.
