How can I void the savior-shaman archetype with my "radical" position on art education. IT's a challenge because even though many of my views are popular, the influence of neoliberalism on mass culture has created generations of media stereotypes that place the onus on "the one" as the re-organizer of human relationships. This exists from the level of "the one" romantic lover who is supposed to save us from loneliness to "the one" revolutionary leader who's supposed to rescue us from political darkness. Of course, many people either have enough critical thinking ability to see there is more nuance to life, or they have been repeatedly let down by their expectation to be delivered from suffering. Thus, people learn they must save themselves. We get terms like "self care" and "self love" and "self-actualization". When a person challenges the actual system of human organization, the frames of reference the general public has for understanding them are as follows: at best, an idealist with their heart in the right place, but either unrealistic like a hippie on acid, or so realistic they run the risk of assassination. At worst, someone who seeks to gain power over others by manipulation them into thinking they alone can deliver them from evil/suffering.
