Group critiques are crucial at all levels of any art education, as it's typically the most effective way a diversity of perspectives can be heard. This will reflect a variety of directions the artist can choose to explore, or to reject. Faced with a multitude of observations from different points of view, artists are afforded a kaleidoscopic snapshot of how their work can be perceived. It prompts investigation of why certain decisions are made, and whether they’re intentional. This builds critical thinking and self reflection skills that are integral to being an effective member of society. These abilities are applicable far beyond the arts; they enrich all aspects of life.
